Welcome to Room 17's blog for 2018. We are an energetic Year 4 class and our teacher is Mr Tucker. We are looking forward to working together and learning lots of exciting and new things this year! Check our blog regularly to see what we have been up to. We would love to read your comments.

Maths
Today in class we learned about coordinates as places on a grid. To help us learn we played the game Battleships.
First, we had a go at finding coordinates by standing on a grid on our classroom floor. Then, Nathan fired some shots by calling out coordinates, trying to hit five of his classmates who were on the grid. After that, in pairs, we played on a piece of paper against a buddy.
You can find a link here to a page that you can print off at home to play. It is also on the learning links page under Maths.

Writing
Many of the students in Room 17 are enjoying writing in their independent writing book. They are writing imaginative stories. Some of the stories are very long and quite complicated. Here are 3 of the boys busy at work.

Life Education Caravan
On Friday at the Life Education Caravan, we saw Harold the Giraffe again. We found out some more information about our brains and how we can look after them.
To look after our bodies we need to drink plenty of water, eat healthy food, breathe clean air, get plenty of sleep and exercise.

Life Education Caravan
We visited the Life Ed caravan on Thursday. We found out about the circulatory system and some things we can do to keep our heart healthy. We also said hello to Harold the Giraffe.
Emily volunteered to have an x-ray of the insides of her body. This was projected on the large screen so we could see Emily's heart.
